Political Cartoon #4

Below is a copy of my cartoon...I can't ever seem to get this formatting right. All well, at least you can see it, unlike my first post where you had no idea what I was talking about. This week I decided to focus on the whole Blagojevich scandal that's been the talk of the town. He has apparently been trying to sell (on EBAY) and bid off Obama's now vacant position as U.S. Senator of Illinois. Wow...and to think he thought he wouldn't get caught...how stupid!!! It just amazes me sometimes how far people will go to rip people off to get money, sometimes it's down right sickening. Anyhow I'm on the FBI's side and so glad they caught this crime committing man. GO USA! I love the look on Blagovich's face and how angry he looks...he deserves it on all levels. I hope he gets the punishment he deserves so he will never even think to do something like this again. On the other hand, I feel bad for Obama because I would like to think he had no idea it was going on and I think it is turning some people away from fully supporting Obama just because it is centering around his ex-seat in the Senate. I'm sure as time passes people will forget about it, but until then I hope people realize that this was only Blagovich's doing and he will be the one paying the consequences.

Political Cartoon # 3

Bush is planning out his presidential library on the big sheet in front of him while leaving important issues, the little papers under the blue print, behind like our current recession, the record job losses, and many companies commiting bankruptcy.

This cartoon was the first one I saw and there was no doubt that I would analyze it for this week's current event. To me it summarizes this time period where he is still the president but Obama, as the president elect, is getting plenty of attention in the media. With this said, Bush seems to be chillin in the background probably doing just this, planning out his presidential library. In the cartoon his blue print includes a "decider room" a "vomitorium", and a "stachoo of me". All these mispellings and hilarious names are picking fun at Bush and what he has done in the past eight years that have caught America's attention. I know this whole changing presidents thing must be kind of awkward for any president in transition, but come on Bush, you're still president for another month and there are things to do...step up son!!! :) But people will be people and times will pass. I just hope Obama, since he will have four years, can do what's right and help fix our nation's problems so we can better life for all Americans.

This week I learned to get my cartoon of the internet so that I can post a picture. My success worked and now everyone can actually see what i'm talking about. Isn't it lovely?!?!

So I thought this cartoon was pretty hilarious because of what the Clinton family has been through when Bill was president. If you can't read it....Hilary: "It's an honor to be asked to serve as secretary of state..." and Bill: "I'll handle the foreign affairs..." (as a side note, there are hearts all around the word 'affairs'. This hints to the readers that it is an important word relating to Bill's affair with Monica.) Now back on track...okay so this cartoon is basically playing on the fact that Bill seems to feel that he is in the spot light even though he wasn't the one elected as secretary of state. In a way he is living through his wife and her position in our nation. I feel that this cartoon will become more of a reality as Obama is innaugurated and him and his cabinet start working together more frequently. Someone needs to tell Bill to but out and that he had his time. :)

Political Cartoon Week 1

Okay so my cartoon was from about a week ago in the Washington Post and I cannot find a picture of it on the web. Basically it was a cartoon that picked at Obama's popularity and the recessing economy. It was set up as an an advertisement of Winter catalogs from a department store and in it were three pictures of catalog covers. The first was of a hobo who needed help, the second was of Obama and his flashy attire, and the last was of our empty economic crisis. I think it is good how even though our economy and politics are at new standings, we can for see a positive future and still pick fun at what is going on in the world around us for humor. On the other hand, it in no way allows for our government to slack or for our economic crisis to be overlooked. I am excited to start a new form of blogs and cannot wait to continue the look into the world of political cartoons.
